My Pitch:

The Goal: To get an interview with my dream company.

Hello, my name is Asma and I am an aspiring Interior Architectural Designer in my 4th year at Ryerson University School of Interior Design. I admire how you approach design by observing and controlling every possible moment one might experience within a space and this approach has been a great inspiration to me since I too tend to design innovative and human-centric environments to bring people together. It would be a great opportunity for me to be a part of your dynamic team where we collaboratively create unique solutions towards inspiring human experiences.

My Approach:

Before writing my elevator pitch, I had to brainstorm and consider which influential person will I be catering this pitch towards. After a few ideas, I thought about the owner of my dream company that I want to work at in the future. I started the pitch with a brief introduction of who I am and what I do. Then the second thing I did was to familiarize myself with the company’s mission and values and luckily, they aligned with my own design values and vision. This was helpful as we had something in common which I could mention in my pitch to get their attention and consideration. This would show them that I took the time and effort to do some research about their company and that my career goals match their company’s values. Lastly, I ended the pitch with a clear request for considering me for a future work opportunity while also emphasizing their team/ studio environment and their company’s mission.
